The drive into Old Cañones Creek Ranch feels like entering a private forest. Four trout ponds and two creeks thread through landscaped grounds around a custom Northern New Mexico adobe, with beamed and vaulted ceilings, stone fireplaces, brick floors and an attic library.
A 1,100-square-foot adobe guest house, three renovated historic one-room log cabins and a partly renovated original guest lodge give the ranch its story. Stonework, a stone-and-log gazebo and a free-hung dinner bell are scattered through the grounds.
The 44.75 acres are mostly forest around a big central meadow at about 7,800 feet. Elk and mule deer visit often, the ranch carries water rights, and it comes furnished, minutes from Chama and about an hour and a half from Santa Fe.
