Under grey bluffs and red sandstone cliffs a few minutes from Abiquiu, this farm spreads through meadows and towering cottonwoods along more than a mile of the Rio Chama. The main residence, designed by Theodore Waddell, is a Spanish adobe wrapped around a central courtyard, with a library, a chef’s kitchen, vaulted ceilings and a fireplace in nearly every room.
A 4,685-square-foot guest residence, two ensuite casitas and a large adobe lodge give the compound room for family, friends and gatherings.
About 70 irrigated acres make this the only Demeter-certified biodynamic farm in New Mexico. There is a horse barn with a dressage arena, private trails, trout in the river and a private pond, and elk hunting under over-the-counter licenses. Carson National Forest is a few hundred yards away.
