A black barn rises out of forty acres of Oklahoma pasture, and from the drive it looks every bit the working barn it is. Horses live downstairs, along with the tack, a kitchenette and powder bath, and a heated, cooled office off the alleyway. Upstairs is a home — vaulted throughout, lit from a cupola some thirty-six feet up, and layered with saturated color, Southwestern pattern and Western art. Interior designer Brett McPherson built it with her husband Tray, a builder, for their own family and their horses. Four stalls, a wash stall, covered runs, an arena, a pond, riding trails, a cowboy pool and a treehouse fill the rest of the acreage. A mile from historic Route 66 and twelve minutes from I-35.
