Velvet · Gold · Turquoise

Some Christmas trees whisper. This one wears it all: deep peacock velvet, antique gold, champagne blooms, and cowboy boots tucked into the branches like they have always belonged there.
It started as one of ours. Imagined, designed, shared on a whim.
Then the comments came in, and nearly every one asked the same thing. Where do we get them?
So we went looking. Here is how we’d get the look, from the ribbon to the glass to the cowhide underneath.
Start with the boots

Every tree has one thing that makes it yours. On this one, it’s the boots.
We went looking for a cowboy boot ornament worthy of this tree. Something with the character of an old favorite pair of boots, a little western romance, and just enough shine to catch the Christmas lights.
We couldn’t find it. So we’re making our own.
Meet the Blessed Boot, the first original ornament from Cowgirl Home & Ranch, introduced on its first birthday. Weathered turquoise, ivory scrollwork, and clear acrylic edges that glow when the tree lights come on.
On pre-order now, shipping the first week of November.
The short list
Everything else on the tree, piece by favorite piece.

TEAL WIRED VELVET RIBBON
$18.97 for 5 yards, Greenery Market
Deep peacock velvet with wired edges, so it holds a loop and falls in long, heavy cascades. This is the color that makes the whole tree.

IVORY ROYAL RIBBON WITH GOLD LAMÉ BACK
$53 for 10 yards, Christmas Central
Ivory scrollwork over a gold lamé back that catches the light every time it turns. Drape it opposite the teal and let the two trade places down the tree.

MARK ROBERTS GLITTER POINSETTIA SPRAYS, SET OF 12
$149.95, Dillard’s
Champagne blooms dusted in glitter, big enough to read from across the room. One set dresses the whole tree.

TEAL & GOLD MICA GLASS BALL
$16.99, A. Dodson’s
Five inches of teal glass flecked with gold mica. A little weathered, a little old-world, and exactly the right blue.

GOLD ACCENTS GLASS ORNAMENTS, SET OF 12
$99, King of Christmas
Hand-blown and hand-painted in warm golds. A dozen of them fill the tree with that low, candlelit glow.

ICICLE GLASS ORNAMENT WITH GOLD LEAF
$10.99, Decorator’s Warehouse
Clear glass drops, eight to nine inches long, with gold leaf running down each one. Hang them where the lights are brightest and they double the shimmer.

HANDMADE GOLD & CRYSTAL SNOWFLAKE
$16, ClassyBeadsandBangle on Etsy
Beaded by hand in gold and crystal by a small shop in Missouri. Tuck a few deep in the branches where the light finds them.

AQUA GLITTER SPRUCE BERRY SPRAYS, SET OF 2
$11, Decorator Crafts
Glittered spruce and aqua berries. This is where the tree gets its little bursts of turquoise between the gold.

CHAMPAGNE GOLD GLITTERED TWIG SPRAY
$6.99, Christmas Central
Thirty-six inches of champagne glitter. Let them break past the edge of the branches and the whole tree seems to sparkle outward.

TURQUOISE WOOD BEAD GARLAND
$74.76, 1StopBedrooms
Seven feet of turquoise wood beads by Sagebrook Home, swagged loose between the ribbons. Earthy against all that gold, and the most western thing on the tree after the boots.

COWHIDE TREE SKIRT WITH FRINGE TRIM
Real hair-on cowhide edged in leather fringe, from a western boutique. A ranch tree deserves to stand on cowhide.
DISTRESSED GOLD LANTERN WITH LED PILLAR
An antique-gold lantern with a flickering LED pillar inside. Set two at the base of the tree and the whole scene glows like candlelight, with nothing to blow out at bedtime.
Two finishing touches you make yourself
The turquoise centers. The poinsettias on our tree have turquoise hearts, and nobody sells them that way. Hot-glue a turquoise cabochon or a little cluster of turquoise beads into the center of each bloom. Ten minutes, and the flowers turn western.
The topper. Skip the star. Gather three poinsettias, five or six of the gold twig sprays and a big teal velvet bow, and wire them into the top so they burst upward and spill down.
Then turn off the lamps
Plug in the lights.
Turn off every lamp in the room.
Let the velvet go dark and the gold do the talking, and watch the boots catch the light every time someone walks past.
That’s the moment this tree was made for.
